Subject: [psk31] Audio Levels
Here is an experience that I had which may be of use to
others.
I built an audio interface around a surplus computer
accessory that brought the audio connections to a panel
which was intended to snap into an unused 3.5 inch floppy
drive bay. This accessory had a manual volume control.
I went all the way with the interface, shielded box,
transformer isolation, and carfully adjusted attenuator for
microphone input to the radio. I even measured the output
of my microphone and made sure the audio from the interface
was at the same level.
It worked great, at first. Then problems with overdrive
(and underdrive) for no apparent reason. It turns out that
the manual volume control on the surplus accessory adjusts
the volume of the line-output as well as the
speaker-output. I had mistakenly tapped my line-output off
the wiper of the line-output potentiometer.
That would not have been a big deal, but I use the volume
control to adjust the speaker volume for the computer.
Yeah, I know, that really sounds lame, but its those lame
things that are most likely ignored and end up being the
hardest to find.

I have access to an old IBM 66Mhz computer. Will that work ok with PSK or do
I need something faster?
Thanks

Does anybody know how to set the transmit freq in DigiPan?
I can't seem to get the same frequency out of the sound card to
drive my rig. Would appreciate help.

Subject: [psk31] Help on PSK-31 Please
Greetings from someone who is just learning this digital mode PSK-31.
I'm getting rx but no tx. waterfall is working and some readable messages.
My set up: FT1000mp for rig, electorkit for interface, and digipan for
software.
off of pin 7 RTS of COMport i get my minus 10v. on rx, but does not go to
positive 10v for TX. just stays -10v. i don't seem to get a plus voltage
any where on the COM port.
I got some great help on the mp reflector but now i found this one. I did
read some of the archives about configure to ptt doesn't work, diodes etc.
but was some what confused. am i on the right track? any comments would
be greatly appreciated. here is a pic of the lectrokit if your not
familiar. no schematic sorry. http://sanduskyohio.com/lectrokit/
Many thanks,
Mike Newbold, K0YO
