Subject: R: [psk31] DigiPAN performance with noise ?
Hello Robert and thanks for the messagge.
In my message I spoke about a better performance
of WinPSK and Logger over DigiPAN and not about
difficult reception with QRM.
With my old but good TS830S with 270Hz filter (usable
also on SSB reception with a modify I did) and notch I
can filter most of the QRM that pumps the AGC.
My problem is with man made noise (boilers, neons, etc.)
that the Noise Blanker can't eliminate.
With this noise type (QRN) it seems to me that the
performance of DigiPAN is not good as WinPSK or
Logger.
Thanks and 73
Guido, ik2bcp

I used psk31 , logger , mixw demo , digipan and for me the best is mixw
demo).
- - psk31 was the pionnier but to small spectral window and no type during
tx.
- - logger is to big and have plenty of bells ( my log is on paper..)
- - digipan is friendly using , but why a so large spectral window for a
narrow band mode ? no useful and to difficult for pointing the center
frequency on a psk signal
- - the mixw demo has the best spectral window ( use the command alt + w to
get the yellow cumulative spectre -> fine ) and for the same 0$ price it
work in rtty !
If one days mixw has the pactor mode , sure i will buy it .

Hi PSKers,
I want to thank everyone for their help with my VOX problem described
below. The consensus is that I must adjust my anti-VOX setting. Right
now, I am re-doing my rig<->pc interface, putting it in a box.. etc, so
I will try this when I get back on the air.

Interesting observations Alain. I too have noticed DigiPan's difficulty in
centering a freq with a mouse click.

It is very strange, because I find the AFC of DigiPAN very
powerful.
I never had a problem: only one click and the tune is ready
(used from 500 to 2300 HZ....)
If DigiPAN will receive with noise like WinPSK or Logger, it
will be the very best ! :-))
Ciao and 73

Dear Alain,
You've been an active PSK31 Warbler for a long time, so I am absolutely
astonished that you have not yet discovered WinPSK by Moe Wheatley.
Try it!. You will find that some of your preferences and concerns will be
better resolved with WinPSK.
Bon Chance!
