By the way, I tried DigiPan a little during last weekend's RTTY Roundup. The
software is a real gem--perhaps one of the most "user friendly" PSK31
programs to date. It was fascinating to see the various signals in the large
waterfall display and be able to point-and-click my mouse to hop from one
QSO to another. I used DigiPan for transmitting, again hopping all over the
displayed audio spectrum to work stations. No reported problems with my
signal.

I'm sorry to say, that on the first release of DigiPan, only RTS, but
not DTR, can be used for PTT switching. I originally had Nick reserve
DTR for an additional feature of DigiPan and when that feature was no
longer needed, I forgot to have DTR re-activated along with RTS for PTT.
We will correct this very soon on an interim release, along with the
addition of CW ID.
Meanwhile, if your cabling must use DTR for PTT, the hardware solution
posted by Walt Pfiester, W2TQK, may work for you: "Just solder two
diodes, anodes to pin 4 and 7, solder the cathodes together and to the
trigger pin on your switch in the transmitter or the base (in series
with the resistor) of your switch. It works very well. Any old diodes
will do."

type, and the percentage of probability, with no operator intervention.

As I recall the PK-232's SIAM simply cycled through the modes until
you saw something that printed correctly and hit a key to stop it.
The logic to determine which was the correct mode still came from the
operator.

Hi All,
Similarly to other reported activities, I have been playing with Digipan
this weekend as well.
I compared its performance to PSK31SBW 1.08 in receive sensitivity and IMD
readout. There was no significant difference in their achievements.
Besides these, I managed to estimate the band-pass of my transceiver, both
rx and tx, that is quite close to its documented specs.
It would worth to compile a listing about the program behaviour, I just
highlight the most valuable feature for me in the last year of my psk31
activity -- to have the program display the national character sets
(actually Russian). As soon as I discovered the FONT change menu point, I
set it together with Windows keyboard locale and soon I knew how to create
printable text file to be sent out.
Having no one on the other side, the test of pudding remains on the coming
night, but it must work!

How about an article for QST, Skip? Or are you waiting until the Small
Wonders transceiver is done?

Hello from Italy and happy 2000,
I'm using and liking very much the DigiPAN since
the day it was ready to downloaded.
It is very easy and practice to use and it works very
fine.
I live in a very noisy environment with a constant very
high noise that the Noise Blanker can't eliminate and
now, in Winter, there are also other noise sources....
( yes, I know that it is time that I sell my home to a non
ham and move to another home.... :-)) )
In this last two days I did some compares with Logger
and tonight also with WinPSK and it seems to me that
the reception of weak noisy signals is much better with
Logger and WinsPSK than with DigiPAN
It is only my impression or someone other found that
thing ?
The DSP algorythm of these programs are different or
the same ?
