Yes, that was me. I was talking about using PSKSBW for transmitting and
using CWGET for copying.

To use both well you need a full duplex sound card. Load PSKSBW first,
select SEND CW MODE, send a character (to get it in xmit mode) then load
CWGET. CWGET works best in autothreshold mode.

Make sure your rig is in USB/SSB mode to allow PSKSBW to key your
transmitter.

Subject: [psk31] Log for psk31sbw&pskgnr

Hello,

Couple of day's ago I made a log program which work together with psk31sbw
and pskgnr.
I decided to made this program because I try to work with other
programs(like Logger and Mix32)which has implemented a log program inside
but I was not happy with theme...Also I try to use other log programs
already made but I didn't find one which could fit on vertical of the screen
together with psk31sbw and pskgnr and which could be operated faster for
Contest proposes...Maybe it is one but is not freeware or I didn't find it
yet.
Until I made this simple software I use Log-EQF but unfortunately it is
working under MS-DOS environment and this is not good for psk31sbw which
break on the transmission...So, this new log program is made for windows
95(98,NT,etc. - not for win 3.1) and it's work fine(is very flat).
It has the possibilities to check a double QSO and an automation to wrote a
specified RST (001,002, etc. - only this feature was implemented for the psk
contest)and it takes the current Date/Time +/- UTC offset.
How I work with this 3 software together?
All of themes are by vertical fit on the screen.
Let say you call CQ. After that you switch the focus to the LogPsk(this is
the name which I gave to my log program)and in case you've got an answer,
you just written the callsign in the "Call" box of the LogPsk and then press
"F4" key which copy it to the clipboard. If you want to check that callsign
to see if you work with him before, after you type it just press "Enter". If
you work before you'll get a message telling you "Duplicate" otherwise
you'll get other message telling "GOOD ONE!".
To paste the new callsign to the pskgnr(the front end)switch(with the short
key "ALT+TAB")the focus to pskgnr and then press "F12", press "CTRL+V" and
finally "Enter".
After that you could press a function key on which you put a macro to
transmit back to your corespondent(I put my macro for that on "F3" key and
sound like that: "send + other call de mycall Hello, your RST is...").

After I finish this program I test it in the normal traffic and after couple
of QSO's I could work very fast and easy with it.
If somebody has other solution of keep a fast log book with psk31sbw+pskgnr
please let me know(if it's possible until the Contest day - 4th of
September).
Also if somebody want to try this simple logbook I could put it on the net.
The installation kit has 1.54Mb(it is written in VB6) and in case you
already have VB6 runtime installed(I think is enough the files installed
with pskgnr but I'm not sure)the executable file has only 64Kb.

Sorry for this long message.

73 and good luck in the Contest!

I agree!! There is a problem or three ...
I deleted all my old Logger files and started
from scratch with a fresh download of 6.08
Not only does it hang as you have stated but
I have problems with the type ahead buffer.
If I "type ahead" and then transmitt all is OK.
But while "Transmitting" I have a scrambled
mess in the upper window as I type.

For another data point:

I am running 6.08d and have experienced none of the problems currently
being reported. My PSK31 "Up/Down" buttons don't work but that is the
only PSK31 problem I have found. The transmit function and buffer work
fine. Whatever text is transmitted appears in the upper window as it
should. I believe that it is normal for the transmit mode to remain once
you have sent out any text until you press the Rx button to revert to
receiving.

System is a PIII 500 MHz Gateway computer with 128 meg Ram, 20.4 GB HD,
W98SE, SoundBlaster 64D soundcard.

I haven't used any of the logging functions yet, and maybe that is the
clue.
I informed Bob of the button problem and he says that he has it fixed so
maybe the next release will correct that one.

After the advice from list members I have scrapped the idea of upgrading
the 486/66 to a 486/100 for Logger use. However, is anyone having success
with logger and a Pentium SLOWER than 100 mhz? The local salvage operation
routinely has P75s and P90s available for good prices.

I must retract the posting below. Mea culpa: I hadn't gone far enough in
my evaluation of 6.08d to turn up the problem!

I do indeed hang up when the transmit buffer exceeds one line or if I
use the ENTER key to force a return. But when it does work right,
everything seems ok.

Sorry for the false joy . . .

FYI folks, the interest in this weekend's contest appears good. I am
receiving several messages per day asking for details. The most interest
appears to be from Russian and other eastern European stations, followed by
much interest from Japan.

When the contest was first thought of, we wondered how many entries we
would get. Anyone want to enter a pre-contest guessing game and try to
guess how many total entries will be received ?

Andy.

Christian,

If you can split your installation into 2 1.2M files (if you are using setup
wizard you can do this), I'd be glad to host them on the PSKGNR site. Please
contact me off list if you are interested.

For those still hanging in there with PSKGNR I haven't abandoned it or you!
I'm just going through some busy time but I still plan to add:

* Sam's Callbook support (I now have a Sam's to test with)
* More logging features
* What do you want to see?

Of course, if everyone ever moves to some other program I might cease
development on PSKGNR but as long as some of you are still using it, I will
be updating it as time permits.

Al WD5GNR

Gee Folks is this the logger reflector or the psk31
reflector ?
I unsubscribed to the logger reflector because all it
was was complaints about logger. Thats fine for those
who want it. I didnt. Couldnt these probs. be better
resolved on that reflector ?

Hi All,
After having numerous problems with V6.08d I find myself in Seventh Heaven.
Everyting works fine. No hangups on multiple buffer lines, no hangups on
macros, up/down frequency works perfectly. Hitting ENTER key does not cause
hangups either. I must admit I downloaded/installed the program so many times
I lost count.
I hope most of the users are as lucky as I am now.
I am using a Compaq Presario AMD K6-2 350mhz with a Yamaha 16 bit sound
card. Logger with psk31 is just too good a program to give up on. Now if we
only had a sequential serial number button on psk31 it would make many
contest addicts real happy. Go for it!!!!!!!
