PSKBARE should work the way it used to know -- as you know the new version
was there but so was the old version -- my mistake.
Please let me know if this is still giving you trouble and I'll fix it as
soon as I'm able.

And I believe and contend, Daryl, that many, if not most, people
do show and demonstrate courtesy every hour of every day. That
we see and hear about discourteous activities is simply because
(1) we have more people in the ham radio hobby today, (2) the ham
radio hobby is becoming a more representative microcosm of our
society, and (3) we have better/faster/wider communications
exchange between individuals, groups and even countries. The
actions of a very few somehow easily and quickly get disseminated
and thus make it seem more widespread than it really is.
We are, by and large, a courteous and friendly lot!
73 and back to PSK31 fun!

Hello All.
Many thanks for the suggestions re. my request to put [psk31] in the subject
line. Fortunately, none of the suggestions were rude!!!!!
I was using IE4 but have just changed to IE5, and had only got [psk31] as a
filter in the subject line. Following on from the suggestions, I have made
it a more sophisticated filtering and now there should be no problems. I
should have investigated the filtering options more fully before sending the
request.
Very many thanks again for the advice.
There is a lot of very good information passed round the group and much
helpful advice.
Hope to work some of you one day on PSK.

There's room for everybody and time fix everything. One of the hams
responsibility, besides research, self education and emergency may be the
history maintenance. An example: FeldHell, originated in 1928 and back to
the scene some years ago due to software possibilities. But among the users
there is some hams that keep the original Helscrheiber machines running; so
CW, RTTY and etc ...
An Australian company (may be there's others or even became a standard, I
don't know) offer e-mail service offshore by short-wave - guess how -
PACTOR!
And suddenly the propagation open to another place and a PSK31 signal
appears just over one of the PACTOR signal carriers ... like happen in
phone, CW, RTTY, SSTV ...
If I can remember the suggestion to use 14070.15 was based on IARU band
plans and it's the beginning of RTTY/PACTOR/AMTOR segment - but not the
unattended stations slot, which is 14060 to 14070 (I guess) ...

Outlook 98, and if I recall, Outlook Express in at least most late flavors
have separate "Reply To" and "Reply To All" buttons. I'd bet that the bulk

Subject: [psk31] Logger Logging and PSK Program
Hi Folks. I have been trying out the Logger program for the last few
days. It is available for free download and use from:
http://www.itis.net/golist/download.htm
As much as I like Peter's PSK31, and Al's PSKGNR, I like Logger better.
It integrates most of the functions of PSK31 and PSKGNR with a nice
logging program. The Tuning display is the same as PSK31, with an added
spectrum scope (which is not that useful in my opinion...The spectrum
scope that is.) Logger has more than 20 programmable macro buttons that
you can program and label as you chose. When you hear a station calling
CQ, if you double click on his call, it is added to the Call sign space
in the logging window. Now that call sign shows up when you use a macro
containing the macro command $call$. Type the other ham's name in the
comments space, and that name will show up when the command $name$ shows
up in a macro. Several sample macros are provided that can be edited.
You can type ahead, or wait until the other party is finished, and you
start transmitting, as you wish. Of course not everyone will like
Logger, but it is worth a look. If you do download the program, you
must unzip it first, then run Install.exe, then download the upgrade,
and install it in the same way. Then you must unzip the file
"files.zip" into the directory you installed Logger into. The program
takes a little getting used to, but has some pretty good help files.
Take a look and see what you think!

Sorry to hear of your misfortune, Al.
So PSK is only good for keyboard-to-keyboard QSO's because of it's modest
speed and lack of error correction (that is, no file transfers and such).
But what if one could send and receive brief e-mail messages via PSK? Just
think, Al could sit in Blythesville AR and connect to the world with a
mobile HF rig (maybe even QRP) and laptop.
OK...before everyone shoots me down, I'm just brainstorming here. :-)
Maybe this will trigger an idea for someone to try to make a PSK gateway...

That's exactly the way DX packet clusters work, y'know.

Yes, that was my experience.
Robert Wagner suggested a look at www.primechoice.com/w7pxl/freq.html
which I did and it just further emphasizes my point - all it says is
"data" - specific modes are not defined. Now it is perhaps ridiculous
to think we can have exclusive sub-bands for each individual mode
because there are so many, but "data" could be broken down a little
anyway.

Is there anything wrong with just hitting the "Reply to All" button on the
toolbar? That's the way it's done in IE.302 or IE4.0.
As I remember it, there is a similar power button in Netscape and in other
e-mail client programs.
What mail program are you using Daryl?
BTW, you never want to even think about asking the List manager to make such a
change. This is a feature that should always be under the control of the
individual e-mail program. Once it is hard wired into a list server's
configuration, then we have all lost our freedom of choice - bad move. I've
seen it on another list (the Westinghouse Retirees Forum, and I hate it.)

In the mid '50s everyone was saying the same thing. Then though it was that
'monkey chatter' (what was it called? That stuff you had to tune in with a
BFO?) called single side band. A little after that it was that terrible
weird stuff called FM.
The more things change, the more they are the same.

Hi Koy. No function keys, but alt-t transmits, alt-r receives, and
alt-a
aborts the current transmission. I notice that logger is more mouse
dependent than Peter's PSK31, but I like the integration of its
functions, and the ease of logging contacts. You can also copy text
from the screen, and paste it into the NOTES window. Highlight the
desired text, (it will go back to normal, but is still highlighted) and
hit Ctrl-c (this copies text to the windows clipboard in almost any
windows program). Open the Notes window, click in the large area below
the call sign box, and hit Ctrl-v. This will paste the text. Make sure
the call sign box contains the call of the station that you are working,
and hit enter.
PS. Nice to contact you earlier today on 10m!

2) Is there anyone active on PSK31 willing to give presentations to ham

(No, I'm not active on PSK31 yet, so I can't do it, but I'm hoping to
be later, as are several other Boston ARC members -- once I get my new
VHF SSB station working, maybe I'll try VHF PSK31; trying HF PSK31 will
unfortunately have to wait until I learn to copy a different chirpy
modulation the old-fashioned way. But let's not discuss THAT here!)
