Subject: OK, had anyone here ever hooked up a radio shack HTX202

Yes, the most reliable HT on the market, I own three of them. Yes, I have
used one for packet and now I am using it for APRS. Yes, they are not any
good for mods, but, they do get the job done for 2 mtrs.
If you have any problems with the wiring, look on the net and there is lots
of wiring diagrams. Have fun.

Yes, it works just fine.  I used a PacComm Tiny-2 TNC, and there's a
connexion schematic for the cable out there somewhere.  Biggest
difficulty I had was after I decided to make a dual connector for the
'202 (along the lines of the one on its extension mike/speaker - one
mini jack-plug and one micro-jack-plug).  I would have been smarter to
buy another speaker/mike and cut off the connector - ended up with a
working unit based inside the back-shell of a D-type 9-pin connector,
but I had to do some very careful Dremel-milling of the plastic.....
