Subject: Packet Radio : Use a uplink to Satellite Internet?
I am just about to get a satellite internet package. It works on an
assymetric basis whereby one uses a normal telephone dial-up connection to
an ISP for the uplink for emails and web-page requests etc, but receives the
replies by the fast satellite downlink (of course there is a small delay
before this happens!).
Here in the UK where xDSL and cable-modem is only becoming available slowly
and coverage is concentrated on affluent urban centres it seems like a good
option.
Here we have to pay for our local calls so I was wondering if it would be
possible to have a packet radio gateway to the internet as the uplink?
BTW I know little about packet radio, although I understand general
telecomms, so the principles are clear enough.
Eric.
