Subject: HTX-200 Packet Cabel Resolved
For anyone who is planning or has a New Radio shack HTX-200 Mini
Handheld Tranceiver, if you want to use it for packet there is a
problem you should know about
The External Mic and Speaker DO NOT SHARE A COMMON GROUND
if you tie them to the same ground on the TNC you are using, it will
cause a short circuit in the radio, Buning out the audio Amplifier
the best solution is to use a 1:1 ratio Audio Isolation transformer
which you can purchase at any radio shack for about $3.00
these transformers have a impedence of 51ohms, the output speaker is
16 ohms, this will have no effect other then reduce the overall power
level of audio to the TNC by a little more then 1/2
But the receive at full volume is rated at 80mW, so there should be
plenty of audio level

Subject: Watson WMM3 TNC
Hi all,
Just wondering before I buy a Watson WMM3.
Is there any problems, or anything that I should think about before
purchasing it?
Can it operate on HF at 300Baud? With a Yaseu FT-77?
I will be using it on VHF/UHF with a Kenwood TH-78e. Are there any
problems with using that handheld?
