Subject: Where to Start

Folks,

I have a problem which may be able to be solved with a Ham/Packet setup.

Before I go too further you may be able to let me know if it is
possible.

I want to setup a machine with a mail store and forward. This would then
send and receive the data by radio to a station that would be about
300km's away. Which would receive and of course send it via the internet
to the rest of the world. We do have phone lines but they are 1
expensive and 2 Hopelessly unreliable. We also have a satphone which we
are using at the moment but the bills are killing me!

I want it to operate in Indonesia.

A service of 2400bps or greater will do.

So the questions are.. Can Ham do it for me.
What sort of gear do I need to get started (Both ends) and/or are there
any internet gateways that are available for use?

Is it affected by the weather?

Do I need a licence (In Indonesia???)

Wher should i look for more info?

Thanks for any help you can give,

Regards,

Greg Heighes
