I'm using Outlook Express to get/send packet mail/bulls. It does a pretty
good.
But you can't use it for other things like keyboard to keyboard.
You should be able to use any Email software for packet mail . All the ones
I've tried have worked. And the BBS at the other end has to suport it (not
FBB).

Shouldn't the word TCP/IP occur somewhere in that comment? Otherwise
you're going to have a lot of people scratching their heads trying to
work out how to use OE with a normal "AX25" BBS!

Subject: com ports for packet modem.

Hi,
There are jumpers on the card to set the IRQ but not the IRQ of the serail
ports the jumpers are for setting the parallel port and do not effect the
serial IRQ's.

There is no way to change the irq from jumpers on the motherboard and also
none in the bios settings.

I have exchanged the card now from the shop and got myself an internal modem
which is set at irq 5, and now have a free com port so i can run both packet
and internat at once :)

I am very impressed with 56k modems, until now i have only had a 28.8k modem
!!
The modem was actually cheaper than the i/o card :)

Thanks all for the info

Help me out. It seems to me there's a lot a concern about the
Internet "killing" packet. Well please, let's not get into that
