Subject: Need KPC EPROM version 6.0 or above
Hi,
I am desperately looking for a KPC3 (not "plus" model) EPROM version 6.0 or
greater.
Even a binary image could be fine.
All expenses will be refunded.
Thanks and 73.

KANTRONICS still sells the latest firmaware for the old KPC-3. See

Subject: Soundcard vs. Baycom vs. TNC
Hi
Well, of you can get FLEXNET to work on your computer with its sound card
then you should be able to get AGW to work. It sounds like a bug to me.
I have heard that AGW still has some bugs. I am glad you sent in a bug
report. I do hope that SV2AGW can find the time to fix all the bugs in AGW
so almost everyone with a sound card can use AGW reliably.
I really like the design concept behind AGW. It would appear that its API
is well documented which makes it easy for programmers to add support for
AGW in their programs (e.g. Winpack and Ui-VIEW etc).
Furthermore, with its optional TCP/IP driver, you can use your favourite
mail program and browser (such as Outlook and Internet Explorer) over HAM
radio (assuming that the link is not that slow).
Unfortunately, in North America, Hams still seem to be stuck using 1200 baud
packet. Not a great mode for many TCP/IP applications. 9600 baud is much
better and many rigs can easily be modified for 9600 baud use.
Oh yes, I forgot to mention a THIRD and FOURTH option for packet.
THIRD OPTION --- You can NOW use a very simple HAMCOMM interface NOT ONLY
to receive packet BUT ALSO to transmit 1200 baud packet. UT2UZ has written
such a program. The last time I checked, it was still available on his web
site. I do not know how well a HAMCOMM interface really works on packet.
One day I may give it a try.
FOURTH OPTION -- just buy a second hand packet TNC on Ebay etc for $50 US or
less. If you plan to leave you packet station running all the time to
receive personal mail forwarded to your station from a FULL service BBS,
the stand alone TNC really makes sense. Most TNC's have a built in PBBS.
You don't need to leave your expensive computer on all the time to receive
packet radio mail.

Do you have any URLs for these?

Is there a list of sound cards known to work, or conversely known not to work?
