Subject: New Soundcard Packet & APRS good map

UPDATE! Well at the risk of sounding NEGATIVE, all is not well
with soundcard packet. It's fun to get something working yet as
I've said; there's working and then there's working!

In proceding with AGWPE and setting up a COM1 and soundcard
Speaker-out to Radio PTT/MIC in circuit (as I've done before), I
find software lock ups.

First, even with AGWPE and then UI-View 'working', there is
an "exception" window which pops up. It says "UNKNOWN". That's
helpful (NOT). If you clear it, AGWPE closes. Funny if you leave
this "Exception" window open in the back ground, UI-view works.

Second, I got a lock up to blue screen. The is best handled by
REBOOTING everything. That's convenient (NOT). I've only had
these while using the soundcard packet software.

Third, I get an "out of memory" error. I have 72MB. I have never
received this error before. I just get it when running AGWPE and
WinPack 6.51 or AGETerm. I didn't get this error with these
programs the last time I tested AGWPE 2000.50.

So, why should I continue (with this version) if I never know
when packet will bomb on me?

Don't tell me Flexnet is our savior. Reports deny it. My initial
attempt to find it also confirms it's not ready for prime time
either.

I had hi hopes of soundcard packet this time. CRASH! Be warned.

Subject: Packet using Just a soundcard ?

Just curious if anyone can point me in the right direction. I am looking
for software that will allow me to use my sound card to receive packet
from my radio. A link or suggestion would be nice. Thanks in advance.

Hi

AGW packet engine is ok on a soundcard. I have tried it. 2 download
addresses
http://www.raag.org/sv2agw/
http://www.elcom.gr/sv2agw/

Then 2 programs which run on top of AGW are
Winpack for normal packet
http://www.peaksys.demon.co.uk/
UI-View for APRS
http://www.peaksys.fsnet.co.uk/
Both of the above support AGW

Is this another choice for soundcard packet. I see UI-view and
others work with it.

Any bugs?
