want something simpler, DOS based, more robust etc.
I own (but haven't started using yet) one of the
industrial surplus Citadel touch screen machines
that a lot of the APRSheads are experimenting
with. They are sturdy and can be seen in bright
light. You can connect a keyboard or use it
without (using touch screen). For more info
on that machine, see -
http://www.geocities.com/jsratchford/citadel_1.htm
I'm not related to the Citadel group in any way.

A very good resource is the APRS sig
http://www.tapr.org/tapr/html/sigf.html
The software authors and all the 'power users'
hang out there. Search the archives for specific
questions, of just lurk a little.

There really isn't much to configure at all.
Power on.
Hit 'MENU' then scroll up or down till you see 'APRS'
Once at 'APRS' scroll right to open up the APRS choices.
Then scroll down or up. Enter your callsign and perhaps
a UIPATH (start with something like RELAY,WIDE).
continue to scroll till you see the coordinate
entry screen and enter your lat/lon coordinates.
That's all the setup you need to start. Call, path and
coords.
Set your freq to 144.39 and hit the TNC button till you see
the phrase 'BCN' in the readout (it's really tiny). Now
you're on the air.
> Does anyone know of specific APRS software for the TH-D7A?
No software is required. You can run APRS from the D7A
with no additional software or hardware. You can (if you
wish) use any of the normal APRS software packages (DOS,
Win, MAC etc) with the D7A, but it's not necessary.
Email me if I can help some more.
