The PK-232 manual IS a product.

Guess who payed the expenses involved in the writing, printing, and
distribution of that manual, Bozo? Did you think it just spontaneously
manifested itself, came out of nowhere?

Timewave is in business, not running a charity. Grow up. Their prices are
reasonable.

My experience is that the number of the com port is not the same
between pure dos and dos in a window.

Use a native program like W98 hyperterm to do basic communications
stuff with the TNC under windows. Next revamp the com port setup
of your dos packet program to match where Hyperterm found the port.

I personally use Paket 6.2 under NT4. It also works under W95, but
I don't own W98. In any case, it is a dos program that I must run in
a window. I don't think the program itself is such a big deal, its
just that you must configure it differently between pure dos and dos
in a window.

Hope this helps.

I would like a way to connect two computer via serial or Ethernet to each
other via radio. I don't know much about radio, and do not want to spend a
lot on hardware (i.e. whole thing <$50CAN). The link distance is 6km (5
miles). Thank you.

You can do it with a TNC and ham radio if the two locations are licensed
radio amateurs. You can't do it by radio if you are not licensed to operate
a radio transmitter. Sorry about that. Anyway, for your low cost, the best
you would do with radio is 1200 baud.

OK. So what do you want me to do about it? You asked about that news group
so I told you what I know. I'm sure this is not the only un-"authorized"
newsgroup in the hierarchy to be found. I did do a search for this group
and I found it on Daja News at the address below. Maybe you could contact
the good people at Usenet and find out why its not on their list.

I was asked a question if it was legal for a Tech-Plus to operate digital
modes on HF. I know they have Phone privileges on 10m and CW privileges on
some of the other HF bands. So does the CW privileges extend to any digital
modes as well on HF? I don't know the answer to this one.

It's not on their list because it isn't an authorized newsgroup. The correct
newsgroup is "rec.radio.amateur.digital.misc".
