It only proved that at age 16 I didn't kill the check rider and that I
drove as well as any 16-year old. Nobody's checked since and that was in
1962. As for checks and balances in Ham radio, it is pretty much
on-the-air peer pressure that makes it work - if you don't believe that
have a listen on 11-meters where there is no peer pressure. Absolutely
anyone will talk to anyone about anything regardless of worth of
content. It is purely an entertainment venue.

I have a ham license, a driver's license, and a pilot's license. None of
them are proof I can operate a radio, drive, or fly. Each only provides
the opportunity to develop those skills while acting inside the law.
Only the pilot's license required any proof of education and even that
is of limited value. Don't put a lot of stock in licenses and
certifications.

Dan,
The AMTOR boys out in this area have all gone over to PACTOR.
MARS also chose PACTOR in Lieu of AMTOR a couple of years back.
Just what there reasons for the switch are I am not sure, but
assume it was the "connectability" was better with PACTOR.
