tcp/ip gateway as it should be able to because of the "MTU" size
limitation at 256 octets and a bug in the ip fragmentation process.
This allow only a link between host showing a MTU of 256 and MSS max
of 216 ...This is not realistic and not efficient of course.
The link between two hosts having an Mtu > 256 locks out and the ip
stations start retrying for ever ...

I think that this is a bug which will be corrected in the futur
versions (it has to !) in order to allow Xnet to decode correctly
any size of ip datagrams sent through slip interfaces or ethernet or
even through regular ax25 connected mode.
Xnet will have to support also the ax25 ip segmentation as it ihas
been done for many years on JNOS TNOS and the ax25 Linux kernel.

You do not need Xnet to telnet FBB you may just set up the ax25
interface and the tcp/ip kernel in order to do that. But having Xnet
installed would allow to connect the FBB internally with a pipe in
slip mode .Xnet does not include a telnet server but it would not help
in telnetting FBB , would be more for sysop acces I think.

Yes it is not a problem you may carry tcp/ip frames through flexnet
as it apears to be a "normal" ax25 digi chain when connected.
However when it does not work it is in most case a tcp/ip
configuration problem :
Use ax25 paclen 250 max (Flexnet has some overhead)
Use connected mode (Flexnet does not work UI Mode if datagrams are
bigger than 256 octets)
Use maxframe 4 (most of the time acceptable)
Use MTU 991
Use MSS 951
Use tcp timer "exponential" (linear will never work properly)
Use tcp maxwait very high, example 300 or 400 seconds there is no
reason to repeat tcp datagrams ... )
Use IP resume timer (fragmentation reassembly) also very high 300 sec

With that you should be able to interconnect tcp/ip hosts without any
problem and without the usual link congestion observed too often when
crappy tcp/ip configuration are used ....

Yes !! you too !! hi this is more a human problem as mutual
comprehension rather than a technical problem !! it is changing
smoothly as everybody knows they all use ax25 as a point to point
protocol !!.TCP/IP is the internet protocol over radio an more and
more people understand the interest of using the same tools as for
their internet trafic.

Why not ! there are a lot of things that hams would love to discover
and playing with various protocols is fun and very attractive to
developpers , we need that if we want to improve our network
performances and interest from people ..
THis is why Xnet is a damned good idea to grow up if we can ...

Yes

> 1) Is this even possible or legal with my Novice license?

I don't think you can operate on 2m with a Novice license, can you? You
would have to operate on 10m or 220 MHz. Read the rules and regs.

>2) Are there Internet gateways I can use so I don't have to set up my

Yes

>4) Pigdog Journal (the Web mag) is non-profit, but does it still count
>as a business?

You cannot have anything of a commercial nature go out over the air.
Whether Pigdog is profit or non-profit doesn't matter. It's the content
that goes out over the air that does. For instance, Pigdog could be
putting out things from a third party that are commercial.

Crazy and then some ;) Starting out with as limited knowledge as you
seem to have, you don't have enough time to learn all that is necessary
to get the project going. All of it is possible though.

Need extra $,$$$ each and every month? I did...so....I started using a new
web browser. Thats right, it really is that simple. You not only get paid
for using it your self, but any ony you refer that uses it. Has features
beyond IE or Netscape. Try it, earn some $,$$$ and see. Your old browser
stays installed, so there is NO RISK.

All I have to do is use there browser which has an advertising bar on it.
The bar can be turned on or off, and when it's on I get paid money to surf
the Web (which I do any way!!). You can also chose to run another browser
and just let the bar of GoToWorld.com running and get paid.

You really have to check this out! It's great!

You can download your copy of the browser and start making money for
browsing. Remember, the more friends you tell about this, the more money
you will make.
