Are you actually under the impression that nobody who is offshore has
Internet access? There have been a number of services that handle this on a
legitimate, commercial basis for years now. No need to go to any great
lengths to clog up the Ham bands with that crud.

That fellow who thought the entire future of Packet Radio will be as
third-rate form of RF Internet access would be a good example.

LandLine Lids are "hams" who insist upon using the Internet and then
PRETENDING that the Internet connection is Ham Radio. This kind of activity
is illegal in Europe, where the Packet net has advanced and grown in an
uninterrupted fashion over the last decade - The same decade where the US
Packet net has been in a serious decline due to the actions of these
"LandLine Lids".

They use Internet connections to replace and displace genuine Amateur Packet
Radio networking, causing a severe decline in our Packet net's
infrastructure.

That's what happened to Packet in the USA, in case you were wondering.

One good way to identify "LandLine Lids" is by the way they attempt to
"justify" their destructive behavior by bad-mouthing Hams and Ham Radio.
They will go on at great length about how lousy Packet Radio is, how stupid
Hams are, and so on. They wear their negativity about Packet like some kind
of badge of honor, and though they pretend to be "experts" on Packet, upon
examination it always turns out that they are without a clue. - Like the
fellow who thought the entire future of Packet Radio will be as third-rate
form of RF Internet access, for example.

Ignorant, arrogant, whining morons with no respect for Ham Radio or for
their fellow Hams. - That's "LandLine Lids".

Almost all of them are amateur tcpip devotees, but do not let this fool you
into thinking that all tcpip devotees are "LandLine Lids"... There is a
minority within the amateur tcpip community that understand why Hams use
radios. Some of these are great Hams.

Subject: Internet email via ham radio? (what is WinAPRS?)

Good question,

Here's a couple places to go for real answers.

As close to "official home page of APRS" as I can find - this is from the guy
who started it all.
http://web.usna.navy.mil/~bruninga/aprs.html

WinAPRS home pages
http://aprs.rutgers.edu

More APRS pages
http://www.aprs.org
http://www.aprs.net
http://www.dididahdahdidit.com/

That aughta be enough to not only answer your question, but get ya started as
well

Off Scotland, a scientist watched in shock for nearly an hour as an
