I have just passed the RAE and have a 2M FM hand set.
Can anyone suggest a decent TNC that I can buy (not too expensive) so I can
dip my toe into the workd of packet.
Also any info at all on packet / SSTV etc would be gratefully appreciated
thanks
Jason

All of the available TNC's are pretty good. If you are trying to save a few
bucks though, your best bet is one of the Packet software packages which use
a 16-bit soundcard for a TNC.
There are several ways to use a soundcard for packet. The best is with the
FlexNet software from Germany. Here's the FlexNet web address:
http://www.afthd.tu-darmstadt.de/~flexnet/
There is more info on FlexNet at my web-page, listed below. Be sure to read
the articles, "Packet Radio with a Soundcard", and "Introduction to FlexNet
for U.S. Hams."
Good luck!
