Does anyone have or know of a UK source of radios suitable for packet. I
understand the Storno UHF 5226? or Philips FM1000 are good.
I want to release the main rig and possibly try 9k6.

Storno 5662's _were_ available from GWM Radio, but I haven't seen any
advertised lately...
Try then on 01903 234897, or at http://www.bcity.com/gwmradio
Conversion details are on my web page - http://www.btinternet.com/~g8yoa
Lovely rig, a bit "big and bulky" compared to some other PMR stuff,
but very well made, and very sensitive on RX (IMHO).
I have not tried it on packet, either 1200 or 9600 (yet).

Subject: Help wanted with upload
Hi all,
Very nice of you to look at my message, I hope you can help me.
I have a problem uploading with YAPP using
Software : TSTHWIN
Hardware: TNC2 / TSTWIN.PRT = 0,1,9600, with TM-G707 kenwood
Situation:
-download with YAPP works OK
-upload with YAPP does NOT:
- I give YPUT to the BBS with filename
- i give the discription
- the BBS says to start the yapp
- I start that with the leftmost button
- I choose the file (same name as I provided the BBS)
- I follow the MONITOR
- the name ans the size is being sent
- after that the program says it's sending the packets; the
XMT led on the TNC burns, but
the TX doesn't transmit at all.
- a timeout occurs
- strangest of all: when i disconnect the BBS, the monitor still gives
a 'looping' of several RR<nbr>+ and DM- from the BBS and me, while
there is NO activity between me and the BBS
Any idea??
Thanks a lot!

When I was a child, my older brother held a ham ticket and I was fascinated
with his home-brewing projects. I was always ready to help out, but seldom
could... Finally, the day came when I turned out to be very handy as an
assistant.
"Hold this wire", my brother suggested.
Seconds later, I substituted for a valuable piece of test equipment. I had
become a "dummy load"!

I have an MFJ-1270C TNC that I would like to install WA8DED firmware for
installation on an F6FBB packet BBS.
Is there anything that I need to modify on the TNC for the WA8DED firmware
to work?
Thanks!
