Subject: TRACKING SATELLITE MIR

 Hello all hams!

I was wondering if anyone does any satellite tracking?
I have recently downloaded WinOrbit which tracks 47 Satellite's round the
earth, and I am very interested in monitoring them, especially MIR, as I know
that packet is possible through it.

I will be monitoring MIR's AFSK Packet frequency, which I beleive is 145.985?
I have a 2 mtr rig for this, and a vertical 3 part 2 mtr antenna with loaded
base. Will this be sufficiant to monitor the signals sent from MIR? Or if not,
any other Satellite?
And would 1 Watt be enough for MIR to receive, or would I need more power + a
beam maybe?

I am from Hampshire in the UK, so if anyone else in my area can help.. Please
let me know!

Ok, 73's and all the best
