AREA REPRESENTATIVE SCHEME COMES TO AN END.
Having read the Summer QRV you will know that Area Representatives have
been replaced by a new system of Field Representatives. All FRs have to be
approved by Council and all active members may apply. This does means that
there could be a number of FRs in each of the old RAFARS Areas. Volunteers
should, in the first instance, contact Michael M0MJG who has taken on the
role of FR Co-ordinator. Contact details in QRZ.
RAFARS ANNUAL DINNER AND AGM.
The Annual Dinner will take place on Friday 13th October 2006 at the Danum
Hotel in Doncaster. The AGM on Saturday 14th is at the South Yorkshire
Aircraft Museum which is about 3 miles from the hotel
The relevant post codes are incorrect for Sat-Nav users. Please refer to
the travel information in the AGM literature included in your last QRV
package. Bob G0DAM will try and establish a talk-in station on 144.725 but
everyone will be welcome for a chat at anytime, so bring your hand-helds.
DATES OF 2006 RAFARS COUNCIL MEETING AT DCAE COSFORD.
19th Sep & 14th Nov. A Field Rep. - see Item 1 - will be invited to attend
each meeting. All members may ask to attend but expenses are not paid.
MEMORABILIA ON TCW FOR A MUSEUM AT RAF LEEMING REQUIRED.
Memorabilia required to help set up a museum at 90 Signals Unit, RAF
Leeming.(RAF Leeming is the new home of the RAF Expeditionary CIS Force).
The type of information, exhibits, photographs that would be of interest
include:
1. Any information that members may have on TCW or associated units.
2. Ground to air communications, radios and uniforms used by the air force
in support operations, for example, the RAF personnel attached to the
Chindit columns. WWII to present day.
3. Tactical/strategic communications Units employed by the RAF.
4. Mobile radars and command and control facilities deployed in support of
operations in WW II to present day.
5. Airfield activation/deployed operations and the role of the Tactical
Air Forces, WWII to present day.
Would members look around for anything that reflects the above with a view
to loaning (or donating) the items to the museum.

QAP G8FC ON THE AIR FIRST MONDAY OF THE MONTH - SUSPENDED.
For reasons both personal and technical Stan G0BYA and Don M0FHM will not
be QRV with G8FC at HQRAFARS this coming Monday. Normal service will be
resumed as soon as possible. Grateful thanks to both for keeping G8FC on
the air in the past months.

On Sat 12 Aug we worked 52 Stations on 3.710Mhz. Conditions were good.
Once again, Alan M3LSX from Norfolk Radio Club helped me out as a guest
operator.
GB2RAF should be QRV every 2nd Saturday of the Month 1000-1500 hrs local
on SSB or CW on 80m or 40m if conditions are poor. For full information

On Sat/Sun 16/17 September 2006 a SES GB0RAF RAFARS 9001 will be operating
from RAF Coltishall from 1000-2100hrs local time on 3.710 primary or from
time to time on 3.055 CW 14.290 SSB all plus/minus. If 80m is down we hope
to be on 7.045 SSB. RAFARS Members are welcome to attend - name and car
registration (at least a week before) to Terry G4PSH see RAFARS News Desk
below.
