QNEWS - VK4 HIGHLIGHTS - MARCH 2
--------------------------------------------------
DID YOU TELL ANYONE ABOUT QNEWS THIS WEEK?
--------------------------------------------------
VK4 COUNCIL
The arrangements for the WIAQ AGM are now being finalised.
The meeting will be held on the 22nd of March.
Bayside Radio Club 'MINE HOST'.
The Bayside area being near the Gateway Motorway is easily accessible from
North, South and West of Brisbane so we are anticipating a good rollup.
Redland's Sporting Club, Anson Rd, Wellington Point has been booked for
the AGM on 22 March. Buffet lunch available for about $12.
It is proposed to start the meeting at 10 am, and complete business in
time to go to lunch.
The WIAQ Annual General meeting will be held on 22nd of March 2003.
The venue for the meeting will be the Redland's Sporting Club
at Anson Road, Wellington Point.
We hope that most can arrive by 9.30 AM so the meeting can start at 10AM
sharp.
This will give members time to read reports and minutes prior to the
start of the meeting.
WIAQ Council met last Tuesday 25th of February.
Office manager Ewan reported that there had been a power problem with
the answering machine on the WIAQ phone number. If you have made a call
to the WIAQ recently and have not had your call returned, please call
again.
The Jack Files Contest, Queenslands own contest will be on again this year
in July. Mark the 5th of July on your calendar for this event.
Ron Smith VK4AGS, Federal Education officer has this information for
exam candidates.
73% of exams are now being processed within the 21 day target.
Delays greater that this are often caused by missing details on exam
returns.
If you have a delay more than that please first take this up with your
examiner.
Check that your examiner may already have an answer.
If you still have a problem, please notify Ron Smith so that it can be
investigated. Do record details of when the exam was actually held, find
out when they were actually posted to Federal Office.
Please refrain from bagging the service in the public domain as no one
there can do anything to help.

projects, then explain the workings to all the assembled members and
guests.
The second meeting, is the FOURTH Friday of the month, which is primary
a business night, starting at 7:30pm sharp, continuing until approximately
8:30pm, then most members have coffee, tea and biscuits and a chat about
all things amateur.
Barcfest is on again this year, date 10th May, venue the Holland Park
Bowls Club 49 Abbotsleigh Street, Holland Park. All the usual bargains

VK'S MOST WANTED
Good news in this week, VK4HWM is on the track of having that old radio
belonging to Joy on the Gold Coast returned to all it's former glory.
You may recall we fielded a request from Joy for someone to convert the old
radio into a transistor model!
Matthew VK4HWM is not only a Ham and member of the Darling Downs Radio Club,
ut also a member of the "Historical Radio Society of Australia".
As he says with around 1500 members the HRSA should be able to
"get those filaments throbbing again".
VK4PJK Jay has a AWA RT-85C 2 metre rig, but with a 'shot' PA Board.
If you have an old RT-85C model VHF rig that is no good anymore or that
VK4PJK could have the PA Board out of, please contact Jay.
The Board number is PA-1544.
