RAFARS ANNUAL DINNER & AGM
The Dinner will be held at The Telford Moat House on Friday 7th Oct.
Tel 01952 429988, ask for Sarah or Donna in Conferencing and ask for the
RAFARS special room rate. Also see Extra Gen Summer 2005 Edition and QRV
with all the information relating to the AGM.
The AGM will be held at the RAF Museum, Cosford on Saturday 8th Oct,
Areas Reps meeting 1030hrs AGM 1330hrs.
GB6NAM SPECIAL EVENT STATION
The RAF Waddington ARC G0RAF will be running a Special Event Station at
The Newark Air Museum on the 3rd and 4th September 2005 to commemorate the
60 years anniversary of the Battle of Britain. The SES callsign will be
GB6NAM and we will be pleased to see any members who may be in the area

RAFARS DIGIMODE NET
If any RAFARS Members are interested in helping to form a RAFARS digimode
net Contact Phil G0DCS 2231 QTHr or email <g0dcs.phil@ntlworld.com>
The best night for Phil is a Tuesday evening from 2100hrs local onwards,
but any other times can be considered. At present Phil goes on 3585khz at
around 2130hrs local using Hellschreiber and when conditions get poor he
changes to MFSK. Anyone is welcome to join.
RAF HALTON BUCKINGHAMSHIRE MEMBERS.
Jim G4PFR Buck’s Area Rep is still trying to establish a RAFARS Shack
at RAF Halton but he needs all the support he can get. At the moment they
meet at the RAFAS Club on the airfield site. The next meeting is 6th Oct

RADIO STATION CLOSING DOWN SALE
RAFARS 3088 Art Simpson is now an SWL. The contents of his shack are for
sale. There are about 30 items some of which - Kenwood ATU, Linear Amp,
440S Rx, Comex telereader - were expensive to purchase but no reasonable

GB2RAF AIR DEFENCE RADAR MUSEUM RAF NEATISHEAD RAFARS PERMANENT S.E.S.
On the 10 Sept Terry G4PSH will be unable to run GB2RAF - see NL87.
No volunteers have come forward so GB2RAF will be QRT but QRV in Oct.
On Aug 13 I worked 54 stations. Comms were fair to good with lots of QRN.
No helpers so I was on my own again, G4DBS Barry did visit the Museum so
we had a good chin wag.
All RAFARS/RNARS/R.SIGS who would like to operate the station are welcome.

INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION ALPHA/ZARYA.SPACE SHUTTLE.
Shuttle Discovery Landed 1212UTC 08 Aug perfect touch down at Edwards
Air Force Base due to bad weather conditions at Cape Kennedy.
All Shuttles have been put on HOLD until the heat shield separators have
been checked out and cleared for installation safety.
Shuttle Atlantis STS121 lift off is due on the 9th September
27th Flt 11 day test mission to ISS.
Shuttle Discovery lift off April 2006 dates not yet known.
Russian Soyez is also standing by for crew changes if required.
