RAFARS AGM 2003 MINUTES
Minutes of the AGM held at the RAF Museum, Cosford are available by e-mail

RAFARS ANNUAL DINNER AND AGM 2004
The Annual Dinner will be held at the Aviator Hotel, Sywell, Northants
on Friday, 8th October and the AGM on Saturday 9th October 2004.
RAFARS NEWS NATIONAL NET - SUNDAY, 11th JANUARY
Due to very poor conditions on the RAFARS National 80m net, the Monthly
News Letter was not sent on Sun. 11th Jan. F5VID Tony who took control did
inform the net and the SWL.
MATERIAL FOR QRV.
The Spring issue of QRV has now 'Gone to Bed' and as a result the cupboard
is bare. I will need items for the Autumn Edition and as soon as you like
please. It takes time to put items into shape for publishing, have them
proof read etc. I would like to concentrate on the Amateur Radio/RAF theme
so Reviews of equipment which is in use, Modes, New and Old, Aerials, Club
and net activities. Am I the only person in the world trying to
communicate
using Hellschreiber?.
For your guidance the average page of QRV is 400 words long so multiples
of that would make my life so much easier. Photographs would be great and
best on a disk if you can manage it. TIFF format is the best. I can handle
JPG but the result is not as good.

RNAS OLLERTON ALIAS HMS GODWIT
Dave G8VZT 4442 QTHr in the RSGB Callbook would like to know if any RAFARS
Members have any history of the station regarding RNARS Ollerton alias HMS
Godwit. As this relates to the RN, RAFARS News Desk will also pass this
to the RNARS News Desk.
GB2RAF AIR DEFENCE RADAR MUSEUM RAF NEATISHEAD RAFARS PERMANENT S.E.S.
GB2RAF will be QRV 14 February on SSB or CW around RAFARS Freq.
The Station is operational on the second Saturday of every month from 1000
-1500 local time.
All RAFARS/RNARS/R.Sigs who would like to operate or visit the station are
welcome. Phone Terry, G4PSH, on 01692 582064 if you wish to operate.
(Operators please bring your Amateur Licence and I/D).
Conditions on Sat. 10 Jan were very poor with only 12 Stations worked, 5
were on the key. We worked two RAFARS Members GM4KGK CW and W1BFA on SSB.
AIR TRAINING CORPS RADIO.
M0KAC the Call-sign of 1127 (Kendal) Sqn RAFARS 4386 now has access to the
IRLP system via GB3LF Node Nr.5140. The Station will be QRV on Tuesday
evenings from 1930 to 2100 and would appreciate calls from other Cadet
Squadrons and RAFARS members who have access to the system.

SHUTTLES AND INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION NEWS UPDATE.
The latest up-date on the Shuttle Flights to ISS
Atlantis STS114 Launch not before 12 Sep 2004.
Discovery STS121 Launch not before 15 Nov 2004.
Atlantis STS115 Launch not before 10 Feb 2005.
Discovery STS116 Launch not before 14 Apr 2005.
These flights could be cancelled.
In the meantime Soyez will serve the ISS with crew changes and services.
The NASA space shuttles will cease to visit the Hubble Space Telescope and
Hubble will disintegrate in space. By the year 2010 all NASA Shuttles will
be grounded and will not service the ISS. The Russians will continue to
service the ISS with Soyez and may even take on the job of maintaining
the ISS Zara. At 1900Z 30 Jan 2004 ISS will have made 29660 Orbits.
If everything goes to plan NASA will put a space station on the moon as a
relay station for Mars. This will be around the year 2025.
