Hi Bob and all,
Spelling previously noted; read your e-mail. Speaking of which, maybe you
have by now so the point is rather moot but I'll explain for the benefit
of the lurkers. I've been following the progress of the rail line and did
a bit of research on it's history and like you awaited the opening of the
new stretch from Alice Springs (hell on Earth weather wise) and Darwin
where the trams like to swim. Maybe I'll send you a picture and keep the
rest guessing. Anyway, I asked about the queen's visit since I forgot the
date but I know she went from Gawler West to Alice Springs at least.
I like your perhaps coincidental turn of a phrase, Great Railway Journeys
of the World was one of my favorite TV presentations but it like Tracks
Ahead fell off the tube a while back.
Anyhoo, like I said in the e-mail you should find the route map I pulled
down from the web site a convenient reference. One bit of fog remains,
just when they came out with Sandfly 2, "the new Ghan". BTW, I like the
new paint scheme and the camel logo, a bit nicer than the old and rather
dull light sand and black with the all too common double diamond logo
that had nothing to do with the historical reference, the Cameleers.
Oh I hope the locos are more fuel efficient, we can still send more
Genesee and Westerns down from New York if you need them. Eh, so you
thought the Southern was all Aussie? Eh eh, we own your railroads and you
had to change the Alco name to Comeng since people started catching on to
the fact it stands for American Locomotive Company. Never mind the
Japanese, I'll save that poke for later. (;->)
No frog this time BUT;
Ooey Gooey was a worm
A mighty worm was he
He sat upon the railroad track
The train he did not see
Ooey Gooey
Mum kindled an interest in trains at a very early age you see. (;->)
