Hi Barry and all,
The problem has absolutely nothing to do with today's fuel shortage! We
must get that straight from the outset, there are "current events" which
are nothing but repackaged old news with a very subtle slant. In this
case The Times commits the sin of omission leaving the reader to make an
assumption, that is associating two things which have no association.
For MANY years airlines have been fueling planes with barely enough to
get from A to B which saves considerable weight (fuel is measured in
pounds, not gallons) which saves fuel of course. They also operate with
all but one air pack shut off for the same reason which FYI is the reason
for the smoking ban, health has absolutely nothing to do with it. There's
another sin of omission and another false assumption. Ya kinda learn
things when you service planes at Newark (NJ) International now doncha?
Speaking of head winds and the possibility of a crash, it's already
happened in New York. I don't remember the details so please don't try to
corner me on references but an airliner out of Europe dangerously low on
fuel was improperly ordered by ATC at JFK to go around rather than given
emergency clearance. The result was the plane running out of fuel mid
loop and crashing on Long Island. I'll bet that was another sin of
omission.
It only goes to show that there is little to no truth coming from the
news media, we call it slant but the appropriate word is propaganda. It's
been the Propaganda Press all along and the sheep are still sleeping?
Time for a quote of Winston Churchill but I can't remember it so oh well,
you'll just have to look it up yourself. Check out George Orwell too, his
is quite similar.
Oh here's a hint for you, just because I can't remember don't think I'm
full of hot air. I admit I have a poor memory and tell you to look it up
rather than attempting a quote and getting it wrong. In other words I
relate the facts from outline of memory but because the devil's in the
details I won't attempt to fill in the blanks with rubbish and change the
story which would be putting my own spin on it now wouldn't it? I tell
the truth and if I cannot tell the whole truth I will not tell a lie.
You WISH the media were that honest!
