Hi Indy and all,
You of all people are in a position to know and speak truth regarding
Diesel trucks so I'll take your word for it. I've not heard anything from
the US industry nor the gubmint regarding pollution or fuel efficiency,
they keep mum about pretty much everything price related these days. It's
a media feeding frenzy naturally, the price of Diesel is typically 20c
higher per gallon than premium gasoline so that reflects in the price of
food and consumer goods, all delivered by truck at some point.
Considering the wallet is the focus, pollution is a non issue these days.
That of course, that is efficiency vs. emissions I have no knowledge of
except for what my nose tells me, Diesel still smells like Diesel but
they've taken the bite out of it. Being a railfan I keep abreast of
developments so I can tell you that locomotives have been improving for
the last couple of decades in both emissions and efficiency by design of

Darn, bumped again!
the prime movers. Increase efficiency and you decrease emissions, logical isn't it?
Yeah, I know what you mean about pseudo intellectuals, you find them at
McDonalds every day pleasing their pallets rather than taking in nutrition.
Heh, there's something between those lines too and it says the same thing
with my usual touch of sarcasm.
EEESH! Whatever happened to the old mechanical Diesels where the only noises
you heard were the "coke bottles" and whine of the supercharger? Yeah, like
everything else they added those electronic broadcasting stations and the
radio authorities found they had to regulate them like any other. The trouble
as with any such device and "incidental radiation" is they limit how far noise
travels OUTSIDE and give no consideration to INSIDE, or in other words the
source. I suppose they think drivers shouldn't be listening to the radio and
giving 100% attention to the road. Yeah, more sarcasm based on some recent
US laws regarding "distracted drivers" and some patently rediculous.
Good luck with the new cab, if you're concerned with popping you may consider
giving attention to the fuel. Bio Diesel made from corn oil gives that
distinct sound of popcorn so you may want to consider an alternative...
potatoes? Alcohol comes from potatoes, you've heard of vodka now haven't you?
Just hide the petcock and siphon tube, you'll be OK with the authorities and
the happiest truckie gaming down the highway, 10 points for roos...
