KC2HFQ (no name) is spot on about ethanol.
The EROEI was not fully taken into account when all the enthusiasm was
generated a few years ago.
Maize sometimes known as corn is not the best crop to produce ethanol.
Sugar cane appears to provide a less negative EROEI.
However Europe and Australia are having a rethink about ethanol as an
alternative fuel.
There is not much point, no matter what the price of oil, if you use more
energy to produce the ethanol than you get out of it.
