Hello Ian, and "ok" <g> ... yes I am still a "petrolhead" or
translating for ov'r here a "Gashead" ....oooh.,

My days of engine sizes ,is long behind me, and with greater thanks
I survived, as loads of my fellow gasheads or petrolheads from our
youthful days in school...didn't and some still disabled due to
some pretty gruelsome accidents.

I really have no use for it, but it was interesting, when you
did the conversion... and for that 1500cc VW, across the intersetion
ONLY from the light to beat the muscle car...well that is always
a priceless menory to see ...all 91 cu inch power ...traction
no tire spining vs 427,454, whatever....a laugh then, and even
more so now.

Whatever happened to the local pickup launch? Or do you have pickups
there Ian. I doubt it. I'd sort of like that winch launch...
looks cheaper of them all. But then there is the cash part of
it...isn't there always a catch.

I don't remember my winter time, Balloon trip, that went longer then
planned. I don't think we paid to be retrieved. The chase vehcile
was the pilot's wife with trailer for the balloon, and we had a radio
and watched her from above stop here or there, and then over to the
nearest "landing-crash" area. Yeah...we've all done it, and always
entertaining.

Maybe a son or nephew or grandson now flying, and I can not remember
where I saw it. Just it caught my eye, and I was rushed to get going
to do something else.

I do remember Genral Gallant, and also very much so Douglas Bader, as
he used to come to the hospital near to us in Canada. They were
great friends after the war, and while Mr. Bader is dead now,
I sort of lost info on Mr. Gallant. He as you know flew the Jets
and also had combat with them, until he was wounded .

Aaah that 460 cu inch <CID> motor, I got half buried in mud in the
wrecking yard. I already had a 1978 460 motor designed for the
F-250 of that year, and had replaced the ford carburetor with a Holley
Dual pumper 6 barrel model which was better and cheaper, by CDN$ 500.
The F-250 motor, 460 also had useless resistor sparkplugs, and no
way to adapt anything, so when I saw the Lincoln motor circa 1960s
I thought ...ooooh boy....here is what I want. POWER ... but then too
I wanted it for towing the Caravan, and boat too...so trailer in
mind...not hotroding with a truck. The plugs in the 1960s 460
really were the best and the holley went went. Also instead of an
autochoke I went to mannual with the cable and pull knob in the cab.
Never failed me starting on the coldest days...

The 2005 Dodge Grande Caravan with V6 is also like that, and sorry
as I drifted from the scene, I never got into that motor.

The future boat has a diesel. So if I get it, and that is still up
in the air, I will have to really study diesels, as it will be a
needed item if needed after we pull down the sails.

73 Pete VE3WBZ

PS: Sorry forgot 2 items...Gas gauage dropped very fast... and ok on
the HUH@WW and too many opinion and too long...We'll try to be good.
