Hello Pete,
The shortages in the 1970s were because of political bans in the Middle
east on shipments to the US & UK. I don't think we were affected.
Oil; production has been increasing every year from 1890 approx every year all
the way to 2005/2006 when it flat lined.
The paper BIRE paper was written in 2009 but only came to light last year.

It is not really surprising that politicians do not want to know as it raises
the question on what are they going to do about it ?

In 2005 a report for the US Dept of Energy known as the Hirsch Report was
hidden away by that Dept and was later found by some US school boy hackers.

It is now on the Dept of Energy web site.

I think together with the UK only Sweden are prepared to accept that there is
a problem.

Cheers Barry VK2AAB
