Yes they are - too funny in some ways when they frighten the hell out of
ordinary people and then are themselves proved to be wrong later.
Barry. I am 89 years old and have been reading stories of doom and gloom
for over three quarters of a century. Forgive me if I reject a lot of
what I read in reports by "experts" now. It's called "experience" that
motivates me.
Going back to Malthus and his failed predictions of centuries ago and
others we have had "experts" that have got it wrong. Prof. Tim Flannery,
the Government appointed adviser, told us that South Australia would be
out of water by 2007. Didn't happen. Sydney dams would be down to 20 or
30%. They are not and we have had scenes of cars immobilized by what
looks like rivers in the streets of Sydne and devastating floods further
north. Queensland would be suffering from water shortage with the dams
down to an all time low. Look what happened - how wrong can a man be? And
he is an expert?
Forget it. NOONE can predict the future with any degree of accuracy, and
the list of failed predictions goes back to the time of Julius Caesar.
After all they punished a man who dared to say that the earth was a globe
and that it revolved round the sun. The experts of the time did not agree
with him. They said the earth was flat. Many have tried and failed and some
of those who got it wrong are quite prominent and still making their
prognostications in spite of previous failure. In any case, no matter what
happens I can do nothing about it and I do not intend to spend my time on
my knees weeping about what might, just might, happen in the future long
after I have gone from the earth..
Cheers,
Bob VK6BE.

I think you can take a paper produced by a government dept seriously.
I don't think you even had a peep at it.
That the government had it removed is I think some indication of its
importance.
I understand your attitude however, as it is very common amoungst
politicians
and many of the public. Strange you know many who tell us that me must
take
the scientists seriously over global warming don't want to know about this
much
more serious problem that scientists are telling us about.
Oh well people are funny people !
