Same here Warren. Some have solar panels on the roof and transverters so
that they can use normal household electrical gear while on tour. There is
satellite TV available all over the country now of course. No antennae,
just a dish easily erected on a pole on arrival.
I had an 18 footer myself and my wife and I did some travelling to the
other side of Oz after I retired. We had a full size fridge and freezer
inside but we depended on plugging in at caravan parks.
We did not want to keep that moving round up though as we had family and
other pursuits at home. We just went on two or three week trips.
Barry our last trip was to NSW via the Barrier Highway through Broken
Hill, the city that thinks it is in SA but is actually in NSW!!! We stayed
for some time at Penrith and then Tumut before wandering off back home.
Unfortunately on that trip my wife took sick and died later after we got
back home. Such is life!

>e have "grey gypsies" too and many not only belong to RV clubs but are
hams too. I remember them showing up at the Piscataway, NJ Field Day
site, that's how I became familiar with their lifestyle. The large RVs
have room for some pretty impressive operating positions and the roofs
loaded with all sorts of antennas and masts that can easily be erected
for temporary operation.
