In the US the Nissan has sold over 6000 Leafs their plug in electric car.
GM have sold over 3000 electric/petrol, but not a hybrid, Volts.
The Volt is $10,000 dearer. The leaf is at present selling at twice the rate
of the Volt. That could well change when GM sells them everywhere in the US.
The Leaf will be sold in Australia from the first quarter 2012 and the Holden
Volt sometime 2013 I hear.
The driver reports on the Leaf are so far very positive. There is a owner web
site www.nissanleafforum.com for those interested.

The range anxiety seems to disappear as confidence in the range indicator
increases with experience. The volt is a plug in electric car that has a separate
petrol generator set built in. I think from memory that the generator is 1000
cc.
The Ford electric Focus is due in Australia at the end of 2012 I hear tell.
So things are happening in the electric car field.
