Hi Tony and all,

Just a little off on your theory, when compressed gas expands and cools
it's a sure sign it's absorbing energy but contributing nothing to
powering the machine. That power comes from a combination of tank (boiler
pressure) pressure and expansion exerting force against the piston.

You hit upon something interesting here, that's exactly how a steam
locomotive works. By adjusting valve timing according to speed the
engineer gets maximum efficiency by allowing for steam expansion to
assist boiler pressure. I don't know what they call it elsewhere but in
the US it's the Johnson bar that by adjusting valve timing also reverses
the engine.

What do you mean it's not green? If it burned fuel it would have a carbon
footprint and Queen Julia would not be pleased. Oh, if you don't tell her
it burns coal by wire I won't. Stupid greenies.
