Hi Pete and all,
A fuel cell that holds compressed air? As I remember a fuel cell produces
electricity from hydrogen and oxygen. I don't know where you heard that
one but whomever is screwing around with the English language better get
one thing straight, STOP!
Just to set the record straight, I did a little more homework and found
the Tata Mini Cat has an onboard compressor. Now we're getting around to
electric cars, just a slower rate of charge but still you fill them up
with an outlet in the garage. In any case if we're going to stick with
the coal by wire scheme we'll have to start thinking energy efficiency.
Every time you store and convert it there are tremendous losses, that is
the lion's share doesn't go where you want it to. OK, so you only pay the
hydro bill for the few minutes it takes to fill the tank but a KW/hr is
still a KW/hr and still energy is lost, you never get something for
nothing. Think of it this way, people with wells must conserve water or
their electricity bills go sky high.
Actually the steam locomotive came way before the steam powered car (;->)
but it can go through deeper water. Yup, early automobiles were funny
contraptions (some still are) and early motor vehicle laws were even
funnier. Then there was Bob's steam engine but he fired it with methanol
so it didn't deplete the supply of white lightning he made out back. If
he had any sense he would stop playing with toys and burn ethanol in his
car. It has SO many advantages, free fuel as long as the revenuers don't
catch you, you can drink it and a blue kangaroo will lead you home if you
don't pass out first.
"...but then too as Warren says....it they
be approved for driving in those countrys?"
I doubt that even if the vehicle is approved drink driving never will be.
Then you never told us how they do it in Brasil...
