Hi Pete and all,
I read an article on the Indian air car and cracked up when it came
around to the "green" angle. Whether onboard or not an air compressor
runs on electricity and electricity is still the same coal by wire it
ever was. Mini Cat is appropriate, it'll go purring along but will bite
you in the arse one day.
FYI, you'll never see a Tata regardless of the model name on US roads,
they fall far short of American safety standards. Out there in Packetland
you guys might want to look deeper and I for one would not be surprised
if Tata doesn't even come close to standards in your countries. Being a
rail fan I have numerous pictures of Indian State Railways trains with
"geckoes" plastered all over them, safety is something that just doesn't
have meaning.
Hmmm, I remember those toy steam engines and their fuel pellets. Those
were the good old days when kids took their lumps and parents didn't go
around sueing everybody in sight. Then we didn't have greedy personal
injury lawyers gleaning the airwaves for tools either. I suppose they
could run equally well from a tank of compressed air but that would spoil
the fun watching clouds of steam exhaust.
Funny how we've come a long way from the Stanley Steamer to the Tata Mini
Cat... but have we really? Nah, the Stanley had class!
