"Down Under " it varies from state to state.In WA we have the Tertiary
Entrance Exam which is taken at age 17 usually and gains matriculation and
entrance to a University of which we have several.
I don't know about the other states except that age of entrance to high
school in NSW is a year earlier than in WA.
