bSaid Bob.
Tpp true.
It reminds me of the 100s of science fiction stories I have read in my
life. Yes, I am a nerd. At one time I was reading 5 paperbacks a night.
SF authors often make big mistakes, like the space traveller in the far
future who wonders what ime it is and listens to his watch to see if it is
still ticking (?) Yes I do know that people still buy a few mechanical
watches as jewellery but that's all.
Afficionados of Star Trek may remember the 'communicators' which the crew
used. If the show thes episodes now, the do just look like rather large
cell phones.
A few other stories postulate a future where women rule and men are
classed as inferior beings.
A very good picture of the feminists with their gyneocracy here in the UK
and, I believe in some other countries like NZ.
Latest news is that two long term, male sports presenters have just lost
their jobs for making fun of a female linesman (woman>) (person).
The funny thing is that they were not on air at the time. They made their
'sexist' comments after the broadcast but they were recorded and passed to
the press. I expect they will be replaced by two women sports reporters
shortly.
Getting back to future fuels. All sorts of things have been predicted from
atomic cars in the 1950s to cars powered by sunshine and running on rails
in the road, all computer controlled.
Take you pick. I wont't be around when it is all sorted out so I just
don't care.
BTW I had a good chuckle when I listened to O'Bama and his address to the
nation, promising, alternative fuels, high speed trains and many other
things we already have in Europe. In England where we invented the High
Speed Train, the Advanced Passenger Train and Maglev. We now can travel
anywhere in Europe, especially France at about 180 mph (300 kph) even
though we have had to buy the tech we invented from the Italians and my
experience is that the Lo Cost Airlines are far cheaper and quicker.
In England, you can't go more than a few miles without seeing a huge wind
farm. Many houses have their own solar generators which work quite well
even on this wet island. Each farm can power a medium sized town.
Most pf our busses still seem to run on diesel and a/c on kerosene, though
I do believe there are a few electric/hydrogen fuel cell busses in some
cities. Ya got a long way to go to catch up. Mr O bama.
Apologies for the typos - eyes getting worse.
