Hi Bob and oil,
Lines without word wrap? Funny, I had no problem reading Barry's internet
copy and paste job but then my monitor's native resolution is 1600 X 900
AKA 16:9 widescreen HD. That's one of the perils of using stone knives
and bear skins and having no idea what the horizontal scroll bar at the
bottom of the Winpack screen is for either.

Now that's out of the way, you're overlooking the fact that electricity
production is and will be for the forseeable future based on coal, oil
and gas fired steam turbine generators. All that "renewable" or "green"
energy ammounts to a drop in the bucket even in the Land of Perfect where
your inconvenient truth is you're part of the grid just like everybody
else out of necissity.
Just a quick breakdown, wind power is off to a dismal start and looks
pretty dead in the water to me. Maybe that's because I get my information
from the internet you hate so much claiming "I live here so I know it all
and you know nothing"? All you need to do is get your head out of the
sand and look around, unless you're observing all those burning windmills
and crumpled metal littering the ground you know nothing of the failure
rate or WHY a variable speed/output generator has an inherently higher
failure rate than a fixed system, the old reliable steam turbine.
Motor transport going electric only has its place in urban areas where
tram lines are a practical mode of public transportation. Then there are
the country rail links but you can thank your ex PM and his cronies for
burying them in favor of highway development but that's yet another axe
to grind. Then when it comes to electric cars and hybrids you still
haven't figured out what rich man's toys are, over the life of the
vehicle the common peasants can in no way afford to operate them. Then
there are those hydrogen busses you're so fond of, you still haven't
figured out their hydrogen comes from OIL! Have you ever heard the term
"window dressing"?
Nobody's figures are out of date nor will they ever be at this rate,
considering the sources of energy regardless of the form it's used in
the laws of physics still apply. The noted sci-fi author Robert A.
Heinlein perhaps said it best with his TANSTAFL acronym that popped up
rather frequently in The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress... there ain't no such
thing as a free lunch.
Now if you think you can win an argument by flying public relations BS
(window dressing) in the face of well established and well known facts
you're welcome to try but be prepared for a slight change. If you thought
the plague of frogs was bad you haven't seen donkeys raining from the
skies. Give me time, I have the gun crews working on it. (;->)
