Hello Ian,
Yes, OPEC amoungst others are getting twichy about the number
of US dollars they are receiving. There was a suggestion of a new
currency for international trade or "Special Drawing Rights" from the
World Bank.
Long term the US dollar I think fall rather more perhaps after the next
oil price spike/recession cycle. Some think that will happen next year,
but most opinion seems to think 2012 is more likely.
A lot depends on China's oil demand.There was a one million barrel a day
increas in China's demand from July to August. That hopefully will not
continue.
