Hi Andy,
The devices advertised here which were the subject of my initial posts,
WERE claimed to be based on fuel saving strategies. The RAC engineers
tested them and rejected them as useless. It seems you agree with them.

Do I need a 4 litre car? Yes, Andy, I do. I can't pull a caravan 1000
miles with a 1.8 litre car. Our van was an 18 footer on a tandem wheel
chassis and it was heavy. The boat on the trailer was also quite heavy,
well over a tonne in weight. I used to pull that 85 miles to where I used
it.
Conditions here are a darned sight different from where you are. Most
retirees like myself who pull a van touring this vast country use 4WDs. I
use the 4 l Ford, fuelled by LPG.I get the same fuel mileage as a friend
does in his Camry using petrol, but pay less for fuel because the LPG is
half the price of petrol.

My car has not all that impedimenta you mention, no electric windows, just
a plain 4 l sedan with AC but no other gimmicks, 1997 model EL.

The discussion seems to have drifted a long way from my initial post.

Cheers,
Bob VK6BE.

the performance (note P E R F O R M A N C E) benefit without the hassle.
It was never a fuel saving stratergy.
