Go to google... type "SAAB water injection" into the search box... look at
the 362,000 hits for SAAB and water injection.

You know, this internet lark isn't hard to do!

The reason why water injection is not popular with cars is because turbo
charged cars now come with intercoolers. The intercooler does what the
water injection did and you dont run out of water with an intercooler like
you do with water injection.

Why don't they fit water injection now? Because it was designed to give
more power with crude engine management systems. Now that engine management
is better you can get the performance (note P E R F O R M A N C E) benefit
without the hassle. It was never a fuel saving stratergy.

You want to save fuel? Drive slower in a lighter, more aerodynamic car.
Modern cars suffer badly from middle aged spread. Look at all the weight
adding gizmos on my car, electic sunroof, 4 electric windows, aircon,
central locking, remote tailgate release, electric tailgate window, 6
speaker hifi, extra sound deadening, fullsized spare tyre, comprehensive
toolkit. The list is endless.

Take a Honda Civic of the mid 80s, compare to a new Honda Civic. The weight
has doubled yet the fuel consumption is the same. So halve the weight and
see just how much better the consumption would be in the latest cars.

Do you really need a 4L engine in your saloon car? I really doubt it!
