Hi Harry,
I've given Peter some advice regarding sequential access control lists, it
may just be the order in which his rules are written/listed.
Glad to hear the beta firmware works ok, I've not been back to the Netgear
website to check whether they have officially released it yet.
The Port Scan and DOS Protection is enabled by default, 'activating' the
disabling function on this protection is not recommended. Disabling this
protection has the effect of turning off any rules he has in his Firewall
Rules, thus enabling anyone to gain access to his private network,
Echolink works when he does this, and that's why I think he has his rules
listed in the wrong order.
You are right, there may be some confusion, but it is most certainly a
Router, rather than a Modem/Router, since any particular type of Layer 1/2
interface bolted onto the Router is irrelevant, it is a Layer 3 device.
