I read Peters question differently and replied via SP as follows:-

Hi Peter,
I had it working fine with V1.05 installed and with the port scan/DOS
protection enabled. I have now ugraded the firmware to V2.10.09, so I am not
able to recheck this point. All I did was enable the appropriate ports.
The only problem I have seen is if I enable the sending of email if one of the
above is detected, simply because of the quantity of email it generates.

In other words I read it as if he turns on the port scan/DOS protection, then
he would loose access via Echolink.

I now there is often confusion on this point, but shirley it is a
modem/router?
