Hi Bob and readers,
I have concluded since writing that bull the poor gent is terribly
confused and has trouble expressing himself. Reduced carrier SSB is
commonplace but was never used on HF marine bands. The most common mode
was CW which has been replaced by several digital modes now being phased
out in favor of satellites. Very little SSB is to be found on HF marine
but plenty still in use for long range aircraft comms. Heathrow and
Gatwick make regular appearances here on 60M but the aircraft are buried
in my high noise level.
