I've explained that the Australian Medical Association Report Card Series
2007 - "Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health - institutionalised
Inequity not Just a Matter of Money" wasn't - as Bob said, "the work of
one doctor".

It was the distillation of 24 papers from professionals and academics.

The sources from which the report was drawn, and which underpin it are:

Quote:

This is an overwhelming body of evidence from which to inform the report.

There are references to the "AIHW" - the Australian Institute of Health
and Welfare. It provides accurate statistical info and reports on health
and welfare in Oz.

It can be found at: http://www.aihw.gov.au/

The AMA is striving to ensure that public money is effectively targeted to
improve the wellbeing of seriously disadvantaged people whose health and
wellbeing lags a full century behind white Australians.

Good idea, or not?

The true test of a civilised society is how it deals with its weak,
vulnerable and disadvantaged. Isn't that a Christian sentiment?

Why should an upbeat report by the AMA come in for attack just because
I - a British radio amateur, had the temerity to draw attention to it?

Some good news stories about Oz from VKs would make a nice change.

There's plenty to shout about.

Australia is ranked third in the world in the Human Development Index,
which includes such factors as GDP per capita, numeracy, literacy etc -
a fraction of a point behind Iceland and Norway, well ahead of the
UK in 15th place.

Even I know that, and I don't live there!

Why not be proactive and positive instead of reactive and negative?

Best wishes
