Hello,

Ok, the story.....

I install RedHat 7.0 from a fresh on my 166Mhz IBM Think Pad laptop.

I do and install everything and it goes well.

I set up networking through my Xircom PCMCIA ethernet card, configure
SAMBA, Gateway through my other LINUX system for internet connectivity,
no problems, all is fine in Linux Land.

Suddenly I get an idea to compile a kernel with AX25 stuff enabled. A
task that I have done many times before......

make mrproper
make menuconfig

	Enable this, enable that.

make dep
make clean
make bzImage
make modules
make modules_install

No problems, I read in the PCMCIA_HOWTO to cd to the pcmcia-3.1.x
directory and ...

make config
make all
make install

do a depmod

edit /etc/lilo.conf

run lilo

reboot

select new kernel image, seems to be no problems yet when starting pcmcia
services it fails in setting up the card.

When I read /var/log/messages it states that it could not find the module
for the xircom card in /lib/modules/<kernel>/pcmcia but I know it is
there.

Please, this has driven me crazy for ages, can anyone assist in
suggestions, answers, advice.........

Regards

Mark
