Best version ??

Not a valid question!

Do you mean which is the best kernel? Or do you mean which is the
best distribution? And best distribution for what? A Linux
server?
What is it going to serve? Web pages? A compiler hosting server?
A high performance router?

A little more detail about what you want to do will help people
point you in the right (and right isn't the best word here) way.

From experience, Debian is good but I probably do different
things than you want to! I had Suse but they put things in the
"wrong" place. I've used Red Hat, another where you have to do
things the Red Hat way which is not always the most compatible
with other systems.

p.s. There's is no best, and no right way though!
