Personally I've never seen 15m so alive. Literally 21.1 - 21.450 was without
a single space between stations. 10m was lively from 28.280 - 28.800 although
it did'nt seem as good as last year when propagation to north america seemed
better. But then we are further down the sunspot cycle so it is to be
expected.
Most surprisingly 14Mhz seemed very poor - I didn't log anything outside of
europe.
As for the WARC bands - I did check them for activity and heard only a few
stations on 18/24Mhz and a normal amount on 10.1Mhz.
I take it from this that everyone preferred to be making contacts in the
contest rather than seeking sanctuary elsewhere ?

Maybe having an AM contest is not a silly as it sounds.
For a start there's plenty of AM activity every day on 160m, has been for
years. 28Mhz has worldwide AM activity, especially from the USA, Canada
as well as south america and europe. Many in the UK have discovered the
delights hiding between 28.8 - 29.2Mhz when conditions are good.
It would also allow simple homebrew rigs to be use as well as being able to
put vintage equipment to good use as well.
It would probably require fairly low power to be used from home stations
so QRP entries would be more welcome and if anyone wanted to run high power
they would have to learn how to go mobile or portable - that would sharpen
up the skills of the operators.
It might mean that 80m which during the daylight hours is grossly underused
could be put to good use.
Just think of all those Codar AT5's, KW160's and Geloso rigs heating up
the shack ;-)
The more I think about it the more I like the idea.
