Hi Frank,
I have used a much shorter ladder ribbon feeder, into my loft shack. I
used ribbon on the advice of Andy and it certainly seems to have paid
off. I have no problems of any sort with interference either on receive
or during Tx.
I don't know whether it was prudent or not, but I took the precaution of
putting a fairly loose twist in the ribbon, both as it dropped down from
the antenna and once it had entered the house all the way to the tuner.
The ribbon should so far as possible be kept away from metallic objects
(pipes, cables) and those it does go near it should cross them at as
near as possible 90deg. I dropped my ribbon in under (between) the roof
tiles, which does not seem to have had a detrimental effect.
